Africa: Present Challenges and Future Promise

Linda Greenfield discusses the current and future promise of Africa. She specifically discusses Nigeria and their recent success in having a democratic election, something that has not always been a success. She also emphasizes the growing economic value of Africa as a continent, with a wealth of natural resources and a young population there are opportunities for investment and business endeavors. She discusses the Young African Professionals, an opportunity for African students to come to the US to network, learn, and build leadership—a program that has grown many African young people into leaders. While she is mainly positive, she does talk about the goal for peace in Africa as insurgent and terrorist groups are threatening African growth.
