The New Opportunities in the French-American and Transatlantic Partnerships

Francois Delattre, Ambassador of France to the US

Delattre is passionate about the relationship between France and America from a political, diplomatic, security, and economic perspective. “The US and France owe each other their very existence as free nations.” Because both countries promote freedom and democracy, relations are as strong as ever. France and the US are the closest allies in the fight against terrorism. For example, the French also fought against Al Qaeda but in Africa. Also, both the US and France want to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons state. Economically, France is one of the leading foreign investors in the US and the US is the largest foreign investor in France. Although the relationship between France and the US is strong, Delattre wants to continue to promote closer ties in the field of innovation that would be in the interest of both countries.
